Every Escalera experience begins with curiosity. Students are introduced to a featured outdoor activity and the people, places, tools, and systems that make it possible. Through guided discussions, demonstrations, guest speakers, and exploratory activities, participants begin asking questions, making connections, and developing a deeper interest in the world around them.

Investigate

Students engage in hands-on learning experiences that bring the KES Framework to life. Through movement challenges, gear investigations, STEM activities, design projects, and environmental explorations, participants examine recreation through the lenses of kinesiology, engineering, and sustainability. Rather than simply learning about a topic, students actively test ideas, solve problems, and explore how recreation connects to science, technology, and the natural world.

Experience

Learning culminates in authentic outdoor experiences that allow students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings. Whether working alongside community partners, meeting industry professionals, participating in field investigations, or engaging in outdoor recreation, students connect classroom concepts to lived experiences.
