Escalera Academy Values

Mission

Through the KES Program (Kinesiology, Engineering, and Sustainability), we prepare students for the careers of tomorrow by fostering innovation, interdisciplinary thinking around topics prominent in recreation. By learning how to design, engineer, and live in ways that honor ecological systems while advancing human potential, we provide hands-on experiences led by guest experts and college students to empower our participants to lead with purpose in a rapidly evolving future.

Vision

At Escalera Academy, we envision education as a village where students, educators, and professionals grow together in resilience, ingenuity, and purpose. Through our program, we open pathways to greener, ethos-minded careers for students while embracing AI as a tool—not a replacement—and providing a network and resources that support and advance the KES Program

Equity Statement

At Escalera Academy, we are committed to creating equitable access to high-quality programs and services. We place a special focus on uplifting BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities—including Hispanic and immigrant families—who have historically been underrepresented in both outdoor education and the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.

Based in the Santa Fe area, we honor the ancestral lands of the Pueblo peoples, including the Tewa and Tiwa nations, whose enduring presence and wisdom continue to guide this region.

Our programs welcome individuals of all traditions, recognizing that diverse stories and lived experiences enrich our community and strengthen our curriculum. We believe that learning should be culturally relevant, community-centered, and free of systemic barriers—so that every developing leader of tomorrow feels seen, valued, and supported in their growth.
